“I was once excited by the thought – why shouldn’t Estonia take part in the Eurovision Junior Song Contest? All attempts to break through this topic were hindered by the reluctance of state television and radio officials and lack of money. But one girl and I prepared a song just in case. Based on a children’s book by Austrian writer Myra Lobe . The song is partly in Estonian, partly in English, as the regulations allowed. But the song remained at the demo level.
I was once excited by the thought – why shouldn’t Estonia take part in the Eurovision Junior Song Contest?
Many months later, another cool girl appeared in the studio and I realized that I could try to make a duet. Purely competitive project. We all sat down together, rewrote the words, they became completely Estonian and worked for another six months. But this song did not pass any filter of competitive selections. Either the song is bad, or my legal disputes with the prosecutor’s office influenced it. But the fact is that they didn’t let her go anywhere, and Estonia still went to Junior Eurovision for the first time – with a very weak composition. And again the song went on the shelf. Until I finally got around to making a video. I filmed for a long time, on occasion, in fits and starts.
Finally it has matured… But by that time the girls had already grown up. After the clip was ready, we unanimously decided that we would not publish it. And again I forgot about the song for months.
Until by chance I listened to it again and, with the consent of the performers/parents, decided to release it as a lyrics video, completely incognito.”
